Once you get the hang of it, throwing darts on the board is easy. But that’s not all there is to the sport. Eventually, you’ll get to the bullseye or one of the other higher-scoring parts of the board.
An amateur is satisfied at these occasional lucky throws. He throws the dart and hopes for the best. A serious player aims for a specific target, regardless if it’s the bullseye or the one-pointer and focuses only on that one aim for every throw. It doesn’t matter if it lands right at the center or at the highest point if that isn’t where it was targeted at.
An amateur could get 20 points but if he only needs 19, that’s still a zero in the game.
Know the game, aim well, keep steady, and try not to get distracted by the arbitrary numbers.
