On repeat: 장덕 4집 – 님 떠난 후 / 이팔청춘의 고백 (1986)

Sometimes I listen to one song over and over again the whole day, even days. Or months. The title song, <님 떠난 후> (“After You Leave,” Jang Deok) in particular, has been my go-to pick-me-up tune for about two months now.

The bittersweet lyrics going with the upbeat instrumentals never fails to perk me up like a good shot of espresso. Having first heard the song in <설강화> (“Snowdrop,” the series) most likely played a big role in how consistently I would get up from wherever I am to dance to this song, but I also do think that regardless of how I learn of this song, I would love it with my entire soul. Just like I do the entire album.

(One day in the café, this is going to be the only song playing until every else has memorised the lyrics. Kidding—or not.)
